Withdrawal symptoms and cravings are some of the biggest deterents to stopping smoking. You have experienced them or you may feel that you will when you stop smoking, but do they have to be such a big problem?

The withdrawal symptoms and cravings you suffer come in different forms and at different times - and usually when you are at your worst! The biggest problems they cause is that you think that you are incapable of stopping smoking. That you are so addicted that it is impossible for you to quit, and that you've lost control of your life to cigarettes.

This is only a half truth, you are under the control of cigarettes but it is NOT impossible to stop smoking.

Many of you will know that smokers who quit, usually put on weight and struggle to get it off. The reason why smokers put weight on when they quit is that their body craves food.

The food helps to remove the toxins from your body frmo cigarettes. It gives your body the energy to remove tar, nicotine, lead and thousands of other chemicals from your body. Food makes us feel good when we are down. And your body craves the food that you have been denying it - through the appetite suppressant effect of nicotine.

So by eating you are helping your body. But the thing is that most of the food that we eat now adays is fast foods that are high in fats and low in vitamins and minerals - the vitamins and minerals that your body needs for the cleansing process.

So you need to eat more unhealthy food to get high doses of vitamins ans minerals and then end up putting on weight.

They key is to eat healthy foods that are high in vitamins and minerals, that have high quantities and doses of natural sugars. These foods include freshly cooked meals, fresh fruit juices, fruits and vegetables and vitamin and mineral supplements.

When you want to stop smoking withdrawal, eat healthy and help your body with the cleansing process. You'll find that withdrawal symptoms are less strong, last less time are less frequent and you'll feel better for it.

But don't forget, this is only a very small part of stopping smoking, there are many other things that you need to do to ensure a smooth quit. And quitting will take at the very least a few weeks when done properly. You've been smoking for years, so be patient and take it one step at a time.
